The author (K6CTW) has developed two Windows 10 apps for Bilingual training. The first is a English/French. This version of the application is aimed at an American/English speaking user that would like to learn the International Morse Code, which supports the Latin based alphabet for both the English and French languages. The application also provides some basic QSO and conversational help in both languages. It is hoped that in the future, additional help from native French speaking hams will enable this application and the manual to be augmented to better support native French speakers who would like to learn/practice International Morse code and learn some English. As such, the menus and pull-downs are all bilingual which, through repetitive viewing, enables the user to enjoy a more immersive learning experience.

Also, although not exactly “politically correct” with the current situation in Europe, the author's interest in multi-language CW communication, specifically Russian using the Cyrillic Morse alphabet, came about a number of years ago. Progress in the development of a technique to enable rudimentary QSO's was eventually developed and then documented in an article for CQ Magazine, “Russian CW and QSO Phrases” in the November, 2013 issue. This "worked" for slow speed CW QSO's using a "cheat sheet" for conversion / translation. However, this was not a very satisfying method as it did not allow for more "free form" conversations. What was needed was a method to improve copying speed and transcription capability using the Cyrillic characters directly as well as a basic facility in the Russian language. This second application in English/Russian is the result.

The author hopes that these efforts will promote friendship, good will and fun! Starting a conversation with a foreign ham in their own language and/or Morse alphabet is a wonderful way to bring people together, promote good will and foster lifelong friendships. Isn't that one of the great features of amateur radio?

If interested in either application, let the author know via email (K6CTW is good on QRZ) and we can make arrangements for you to give these "Beta" level apps a try. Help in comments/corrections/issues will be very much appreciated.

Of course after 2 weeks this is just a proof of concept. MY biggest issue is sound quality (as compared to my clickless analog CPO).

As MIDI sound fonts I am using those available on public internet and was also experimenting with Polyphone (a program to create or edit sound fonts) to create a clickless sine sound for MIDI. So far it is "ok" but I would like make it sound more like envelope shaped sine CW.

Did anyone experiment with / generate MIDI soundfonts well suited to CW / QRQ CW already?

Any hints appreciated.

I read with interest Joe KF7CX article about regenarative CW.
