I was brousing my downloaded 'The Art and Skill of Radiotelegraphy' and noted a discussion of the 'Chicken Fat Operators'. I found a website full of pictures and a roster of members. I even got to hear the famous CFO anthem! The site is:

What is the history of this group? I take it the club is inactive.

Ah yeah, CFO, watch a bunch they were! Mike points out many of the same things I remember, and thanks Mike for bringing those fond memories back. I joined in the early 80's and I was also a member in poor standing, #86 I believe. Many a fun night was spent down on 7030 with W9TO and the gang. Cluckin' away, and having a great laugh, those guys cracked me up.
My future wife at the time, and I, attended the 1st and 2nd Cluck In down at the Dayton Hamvention in 81 and 82. We had a great time, such a fun bunch. But eventually I got married and Ham Radio took a back seat to a lot of things, houses, moves, kids, jobs,
you name it.
I miss those QSO's though. Hope my CFO certificate comes through ok.
