Clean up the audio on any WEBSDR WEBSITE online receiver with this free DSP software setup.

This video will demonstrate a free software setup to get rid of the audio distortion you hear when listening to any of the WEBSDR websites, since they have bandwidth limits and have to use low sample rates for their audio streaming.

This same method will also help to clean up your own RIGs audio, or even an mp3 or wave file of some morse code recording.

When listening to any websdr online receiver audio, you can filter out the audio harmonic distortions and other audio noises that these online java based streaming audio websites produce, due to bandwidth limits and using low audio sample rates etc, with the method shown in the this video, using all free software.

This video is an introduction demonstration to show how well this free software setup does in cleaning up the audio from any of these online websdr receivers.

The free software shown and mentioned in the video are at the following links:
1. PEDALBOARD 2 which is a VST HOST that you need in order to use the
free VST PLUGINS that clean up the audio
http://www.niallmoody.com/apps/pedalboard2

2. ENGINEERS VST PLUGIN
http://www.rs-met.com/freebies.html

3.. the EQUALIZER plugin from MeldaProduction
http://www.meldaproduction.com/freevstplugins/mequalizer.php

4. the SPECTRUM ANALYZER PLUGIN called SPAN
http://www.voxengo.com/product/span/

4. the article on how to install
the BREAKAWAY PIPELINES(virtual audio device)
https://sites.google.com/site/icwoip/best-virtual-sound-card-for-icw

5. another option for the virtual audio device
is the VB-AUDIO VIRTUAL CABLE
http://qrqcwnet.ning.com/profiles/blogs/virtual-audio-cable-by-vb-a...

PROCEDURE:
1.
bring up PEDALBOARD2, and then select in audio properties option for the AUDIO DEVICE - SELECT - WINDOWS AUDIO(wasapi) or (direct sound if you are using a windows OS earlier than VISTA or 7 or 8 etc....)
FOR INPUT - select one of the 3 BREAKAWAY PIPELINES, then select for the output, your computer sound card, try it with the default buffer settings , and if you don't hear any audio pops, clicks or crackles, it should be fine with this default buffer settings...

2.
in the options setting, select PLUGIN LIST...on the next screen select OPTIONS at the bottom left, on the next screen select SCAN for new plugins and tell PEDALBOARD2 where you have downloaded the 3 vst plugins and then click SCAN.

PEDALBOARD2 already has a few of its own vst plugins , I am using the LEVEL and the VU meters, all you have to do is double click in the pedal board screen to bring up the list and select and it, and it will show up in the PEDALBAORD2 screen. Left click and draw audio connection lines from and to all the plugins, from the INPUT all the way to the OUTPUT. Bring up any of the VST PLUGIN screens by clicking on the letter "e" on the pedaboard2 VST GUI ...the melda plugin for the mequalizer, must not be closed, there is a bug that once you close that plugin, you can not see it again unless you go to AUDIO PROPERTIES again, bring up that screen on pedalboard2 and then close it, this will bring up the VST GUI again for the mequalizer. the engineers filter and the span spectrum analyzer should be "ok" to close out and you should be able to bring them back up again...

UPDATE: 4-22-13, A NEW VERSION OF PEDALBOARD(version 2.13) fixes this issue with the MELDA VST PLUGINS. You can now close them and open them again with no issues.

TO ROUTE THE AUDIO FROM THE WEBSDR SITES TO THE VIRTUAL AUDIO DEVICE:
Select the chosen PEDALBOARD2 INPUT - BREAKAWAY PIPELINE - in your windows audio properties as the default device and then go to the WEBSDR website to listen to one of the online receivers with your new audio filtering setup. You can also use the
VB-AUDIO VIRTUAL CABLE for this: http://qrqcwnet.ning.com/profiles/blogs/virtual-audio-cable-by-vb-a...
here is a picture of the VB-AUDIO VIRTUAL CABLE as the default device in windows:
http://i.imgur.com/D4ZELat.jpg

NOTE: this same setup will work with your own ham radio receiver too...
just route the audio from your RIG over to the LINE INPUT of your soundcard,
and change PEDALBOARD2's input selection from the BREAKAWAY
PIPELINE virtual audio device, over to the LINE INPUT of your soundcard.

You can also clean up the audio from an mp3 or wave file recording.
Use the same method as presented in the video, only instead of going
to the WEBSDR site, you are going to just click and play the audio
file you are interested in...and since you have already selected one of
PIPELINES as your default windows audio device, the audio player will
use that PIPELINE and the audio will go through your PEDALBOARD2
software setup , through the same plugins, and output to your soundcard.

NOTE: for this video , the harmonic distortions were amplified, to show how well
the filtering does in eliminating these multiple high frequency audio spikes,
and to emphasize their presence in low bandwidth audio streaming.
