This FOG net recording and play back system is great listening practice it sure beats being put to sleep by the boring word files.Thanks to Chuck for all the hard work and to the FOG for providing the time and live practice.

Hey Chuck, what's are the approx. speeds you guys are running on the QRQcw101net? 80-100?

Yes, the speeds for this net started at 80 wpm, to warm up a bit, with the goal of
being able to send/type over 100 wpm sometime during the net ..thus the reason
for the name 101 ...sending/receiving cw over 100 wpm...
Aha...very nice. I could hang with you guys in that (with sending)...especially due to the 80 wpm warmup, only problem is, copying gets to be very hard for me at 70-80 and I doubt I can hang even at 60-65 yet, but who knows? I would like to be able to get in there with you guys and be able to copy 80-100 by at least two years from now. It's a vague goal anyway. 73. -Brett

using WINE on LINUX MINT 17.3 to send keyboard cw audio tones into the mumble input AND also had a st key, and paddles connected to the input of the MIC jack for sending their tones into the mumble input too...being able to operate ST KEY, PADDLES, and CW KEYBOARD, all ready to send at any time...
In this qso , aa0hw, was using a software cw regeneration technique...taking the original square wave from a micro powered 555 chip, the css555, and keying that css555 with a straight key, he also had an ULTRA PICO KEYER and paddles hooked up, and with the stereo MIC INPUT, the audio output tones of ULTRA PICO KEYER went to the left channel of the MIC INPUT JACK of the laptop, the css555 chip was sending its st key tones to the right channel of the MIC INPUT jack...both L and R channels of input were routed to the mumble input for transmitting after being filtered, and regenerated by software apps in LINUX.
The MUMBLE OUTPUT was also regenerated by the same software apps, and the original mumble output waveform could be seen on the oscilloscope pictured in the video on TOP and the regenerated will show on the bottom of the SCOPE APP.

NOTE: during the qso, a short test by aa0hw sending a short message at 120 wpm to test the upper levels of the K3's ability to QrQ.

The audio in this video was edited by aa0hw applying some "normalization" - set to (-6b) - to the original audio file, and then applying a slight amount of audio bandpass filtering and audio AGC.

Where do the 'blips' on the baseline shown above come from? Are they artifacts? I get them on my oscilloscope while monitoring my CW waveform using a dummy load on the Omni D. Chuck, W5UXH, recorded them while monitoring my signal over the air years ago using, I believe, Audacity.
What is the WPM upper limit of the K3 in QRQ mode? Is the upper limit greater with the K3s?

Hi Joe, i think the blips are just some receive audio getting through...i don't hear any artifacts while listening to to it. Regarding QRQ LIMITS on the K3 and K3S, ( i have the K3 with all the "S" upgrade boards). My K3(S) starts "breaking down" and sending ARTIFACT SPIKES just above 90wpm when using FULL QSK and with the K3 QRQ MODE enabled. So I guess that 90 wpm is about my qrq limit on the K3(S) that I have, which does have the latest firmware updates as of April 2016.
Even I can hear the difference at 90 to 100 wpm.
OK, say I am a DXer and I want to use the K3 or K3s in split mode, meaning I am going to call the DX station up by say 10 khz. What is the maximum keying speed I can use without the code elements suffering?
So far, I think I will keep my Omni D.
