Ah yes...modern telegraphy with modern radios. On Thursday morning May 21st 2009 I fired up the Jupiter to meet with Ted K5LGJ on 3.530 MHz at 7AM. The sunspots have been scarce so not much chance for me out here on Maui to get on the air practice with QRQ cw. I have been relying on Rufz to get my speed up but it would be nice to get some on the air practice. Are there any QRQ nets out there? If not, maybe we could start planning ahead for the new sunspot cycle by getting some operators together who would be interested in starting a net.

My journey towards Ham Radio had begun. Working with the electronic parts and putting together various simple devices was great fun. Looking for more than Radio Shack could offer , a HEATHKIT store near our house came into play. Going there with my father and just looking around, introduced… Continue
